Teenage pregnancy is the unlikely subject for a new six-part comedy due to start on BBC Three on Thursday 23 February 2012. Called Pramface, it focuses on a young teenage couple – Laura Derbyshire (played by Scarlett Alice Johnson) and Jamie Prince (played by Sean Michael Verey – who have to come terms with parenthood.

Eighteen-year-old Laura meets sixteen-year-old Jamie at a sixth-form party and have a brief sexual encounter, which leads to Laura becoming pregnant. The series concentrates on the nine months of her pregnancy and the decisions the two have to make. And not pleased by Laura’s decision to keep the baby are her parents Janet and Alan Derbyshire (played by Anna Chancellor and Angus Deayton), whose marriage is already weak at the seams.
