The draw for the third round of the English FA Cup was made at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 4 December 2011. This is the round when the big teams from the Premiership and Championship enter the tournament to join the 20 survivors from the lower divisions who have navigated their way through the earlier rounds.
The second round results mean that some non-league teams are still left in the hat, notably Welsh club Wrexham who won away at Brentford and Tamworth who beat fellow non-leaguers Gateshead. And Chelmsford City, Fleetwood Town and Salisbury City could be there if they win their replays.
Third round ties will be played over the weekend of 7 and 8 January 2012. The fourth round will be on 28 and 29 January and the fifth round on 18 and 19 February. The quarter finals will take place on 17 and 18 March followed by the semi-finals at Wembley on 14 and 15 April and the final itself at Wembley on 5 May 2012.

FA Cup Third Round Ties to Watch Out For
The big match of the round had to be holders Manchester City at home to their neighbours Manchester United. But there are other local derbies to look out for such as Nottingham Forest playing Leicester City, Fulham against Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City against Wolverhampton Wanderers. There is also the mouth-watering prospect of old rivals Arsenal and Leeds United coming face to face. Non-league Tamworth have been rewarded with a trip to Premiership side Everton.
